My Story
My name is Amanda Wilson and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), and I am the proud founder of Sundaze Counselling. I have always had a strong passion for listening, learning and understanding people, and I knew I wanted a career that could fulfill that desire. However, when I was 13 I truly started to learn what mental health was and how it can affect someone. At 13 I developed an eating disorder called anorexia nervosa, along with anxiety. During this time I saw how our minds can affect everything in our lives, from academics, careers, hobbies, and relationships most importantly our view of ourselves. Over many years during my recovery journey, I was able to see that reaching out for help in the form of therapy can truly impact a person's life. I was able to learn with therapy and my training in mental health, that if we can change our way of thinking we can transform our lives. As well, when we shift our behaviours from maladaptive to a more helpful and positive approach we can truly enhance our abilities to do the things we once feared.
